Helena Public Schools broke ground this week on renovations to Capital High School, drawing students, staff, and community members to the milestone event. The project addresses over $14 million in deferred maintenance and includes structural and systems upgrades, modern HVAC, improved electrical safety, secure entry points, renovated learning spaces, and a new CTE facility.

The renovation is estimated at $59 million and is funded through the $240 million high school bond Helena voters approved in September 2025. Students and staff will remain in the building throughout construction, which is being phased floor by floor, with completion targeted for fall 2028.

The project is led by architects from Slate+RTA and general contractor Langlas, and is part of a broader district bond program that also includes a new Helena High School, a relocated district kitchen, and a new district stadium.
