Laborer

Job Description

Location: Billings, MT

The construction laborer performs general tasks at various job sites including residential and commercial construction. The laborer conducts tasks in support of Carpenters, Foremen and Superintendents.

Qualifications and Required Skills

1. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
2. Ability to communicate and follow instructions in English
3. Ability to read, write and do basic math
4. Must provide own basic tools
5. Good physical condition and endurance
6. Previous construction experience is preferred but not required
7. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

1. Shows up to work on time for the required shift at the assigned job site
2. Receives and follows all instructions from Carpenters, Foremen and Superintendents
3. Keeps all tools clean and in working condition
4. Helps maintain a clean job site by conducting housekeeping (cleaning trash, removing debris, sweeping, etc.)
5. Organizes and moves building materials, supplies and tools
6. Assists Carpenters when needed
7. Controls traffic near job sites
8. Assists in safety related tasks
9. Conducts demolition of structures

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

1. Once certified, may use a telehandler forklift or skidsteer to complete tasks
2. Use a company vehicle to pick up or deliver materials
3. Any other tasks provided by Carpenters, Foremen, Safety Personnel or Superintendents

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position is extremely strenuous. Applicants must be able to lift and carry heavy objects. Applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Activities will include climbing ladders or scaffolding, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. Applicants must have good manual dexterity of the hands and arms. Applicants must also have full mobility of the neck, back, arms and legs.
